Be fit... stay fit...Live fit!

As a class we will continue to work on improving our body fat percentage and BMI throughout the rest of the school year. We will be engaging in strength training and aerobic exercises that will help our class as a whole improve so that each student can try their best to improve to their best ability. Students will be given a exercise handout schedule so that they will know which exercises they should be performing inside and outside of the classroom on the different scheduled days. This schedule will help each students to improve their overall health and fitness.

Overall class performance for the 2nd assessment

Once again everyone has done a great job with performing the BIA assessment for the second time. Again I would like to thank the students and their parents for their cooperation with this assessment and how well behaved and respectful each student was to their classmates. Overall, the scores stayed close to the same for the girls and for the boys they changed quite a bit.In class we will continue to work on different activities that will help each and every student reach their ideal body fat percentage. Thanks again for everyone's cooperation during this assessment.

Test Validity & Reliability

The test varies depending on how much a person is hydrated before taking it. The more the student is hydrated the better and more accurate the score of the BIA OMRON device will be. The device may not be reliable depending on the person because the body fat percentage and BMI will vary person to person. Therefore students should not compare their scores to other classmates. The student also should not take this test after they have done any type of strenuous workout. It is very valid to monitor change because the main focus of our classroom is for everyones personal improvement in our fitness program.

Students An Important Announcement Regarding Tomorrow

Students this is an important announcement regarding testing: If it is to rain tomorrow, Wednesday July 21, we will be meeting in front of the Tech building and we will be BIA testing instead of running the mile. However, if it is sunny we will be running the mile run as scheduled. Either way please remember to come to class fully hydrated; this will give you a more accurate BIA reading. Thank you!

How to Improve

To help everyone improve in and out of the classroom, students will be provided with different exercises that will help each and every student strive for their goal. Some of the exercises that we will be doing are different cardio and interval training. We will also be doing weight training three times a week as well as discuss the importance of eating healthy to maintain a healthy, happy, and physically fit lifestyle inside and outside of the classroom. Some activities we will be participating in are:

-Jogging on a regular basis for warm ups
-Strength training in the weight room
-Jump Roping
-Aerobic Dance
-Circuit Training
-Fitnes Walking and etc.

*It is very important to have a balance of fitness (exercise) and nutrition.* An example of this would be is one bad meal could offset a positive fitness routine. If a student runs a mile and a half on a track and then drinks one bottle of coke it terminates the purpose of running a mile and a half in the first place.
Bottle of coke= 280 calories Running a mile and a half burns= about 150 calories

Overall class performance for the 1st assessment

First of all, I would like to thank all of my students and parents for their cooperation with this assesment.Everyone has done a great job with participating in the BIA fitness gram assessment and I hope that everyone is working towards their goals for the next time we use the BIA devices. Overall, the majority of the class were in the fitness or athlete categories. While only very few students may need a little improvement. The point of this test is to see what we may want to improve on in our classroom. During class time we will be doing different exercises that will keep us fit, healthy, and will also help us try our best to improve our BIA scores. This test should not be about the students scores, but should make the student aware of what he or she wants to do to improve their health and fitness!
